　　掷铁饼(discus)是奥运会和世界田径锦标赛的一项比赛项目。比赛时，投掷者一手持铁饼，在投掷圈内通过旋转动作将铁饼掷出尽可能远的距离。从技术结构上讲，完整的掷铁饼过程可以分为握法、预备姿势、预摆旋转、最后用力和铁饼掷出后的身体平衡五个部分。比赛掷铁饼时，每名运动员都有试投机会三次，获得前三次试投成绩前八名的运动员，还可每人再试投三次。
